The case for Robin Hood is stronger than ever.
Under the huge economic impact of coronavirus, Robin can provide money for our economic recovery: for healthcare, jobs, and to combat climate change.
Now, the European Parliament has recognised this - voting overwhelmingly that it won’t approve the 'Recovery' budget unless a Robin Hood Tax worth at least €50 billion a year is included!
If we get the Robin Hood Tax to happen in the EU, we can hit many targets with a single arrow.
Countries with the economic credibility of Germany demonstrating the common sense of raising revenue from rich financial firms at this time could tip the balance here in the UK too.
It now looks like there will be an almighty fight between the MEPs, pressing for the billions needed to pay for the huge challenges ahead...
...and the Governments of the Member States under pressure from the financial lobby to resist the Robin Hood Tax at all costs.
We are majorly out resourced by the banking industry's lobby but now is the time to push for Robin everywhere, like never before.
And, while they are fighting us with the same old, tired arguments, our case for having them pay their fair share for the public services we rely on is getting stronger and stronger. The Robin Hood Tax is vital for covid recovery.
Can you help us take on the lobby and mark out the Robin Hood Tax as a necessary step for Covid recovery?
